Iowa Code 273.8 – Area Education Agency Board of Directors
Notice is hereby given that the Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency will be accepting Statement of Candidacy submissions for the election of four AEA board members in November, 2019. The four board positions open for election are:
Albert City-Truesdale, Clay Central-Everly, Harris-Lake Park, Laurens-Marathon, Ruthven-Ayrshire, Sioux Central, Spencer, Twin Rivers and West Bend-Mallard.
Alta-Aurelia, Gilmore City-Bradgate, Newell-Fonda, Pocahontas Area, Schaller-Crestland and Storm Lake.
District 6 (Vacancy)
Eagle Grove, Fort Dodge(portion), Northeast Hamilton, South Hamilton, Southeast Webster-Grand, Stratford, Webster City.
The board of directors of an area education agency shall be elected by a vote of the members of the boards of directors of the local school districts located within the director district. The member of the area education agency board to be elected may be a member of a local school district board of directors and shall be an elector and a resident of the director district, but shall not be a school district employee.
A candidate for election to the area education agency board shall file a “Statement of Candidacy” with the Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency Board Secretary not later than October 15, 2019. The statement of candidacy is available at the school board offices in the corresponding Director District and the administrative offices of the Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency, 1235 5th Ave South, Fort Dodge, Iowa.
The board members for districts 3, 4, and 7, shall serve on the Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency Board of Directors for a term of four (4) years, beginning the first regular meeting of December, 2019. The board member for district 6 shall serve on the Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency Board of Directors for a term of two (2) years, beginning the first regular meeting of December, 2019.
